step one: Spray curl hold product on hair
For long-lasting mermaid waves, prep the hair with ghd curl hold spray.
step two: Dry product in with hairdryer and brush
Dry in product and smooth the hair using ghd air® hairdryer and a ghd paddle brush.
step three: Separate crown to back of ear and take horizontal section from bottom
Separate the hair from the crown to the back of the ear, and start at the bottom with a horizontal section.
step four: Point curl tong downwards and place above hair
Pointing the ghd curve® creative curl wand downwards, place the tong above the hair with the clamp open.
step five: Twist wrap hair
Twist wrap the hair around the barrel, away from the face. Hold for 5-8 seconds.
TIP: Twisting the hair whilst wrapping will give you a softer wave finish.
step six: Catch curl and cup until cooled
Allow the curl to fall into hand and cup until cool to set the shape.
step seven: Pull end of curl to create wave
Once cooled, gently pull on the end of curl allowing it to pop into a wave.
step eight: Repeat technique to back of head
Continue the same technique to complete to the back of the head, always with the barrel above the hair and curling away from the face.
step nine: On opposite side, twist wrap hair and curl away from face
On the opposite side of the head, starting again from the front, twist wrap and curl the hair away from the face – it’s easier to change the hand you hold your wand in to do this.
step ten: Repeat technique, working up section
Continue using the same technique working up the section, always with the barrel above the hair and curling away from the face.
step eleven: Shake curled hair out
Dress out the curls gently with hands, lifting and shaking to blend sections but retain definition.
step twelve: Spray with final shine spray
To finish your mermaid waves, spritz the hair with ghd final shine spray.
